Eyelid Surgery -- Correcting Ptosis and Dermatochalasis

Droopy upper lids and excessive skin of the upper lids are a normal part of the aging process. Sometimes it can also be hereditary. What most people don't realize is that if the drooping is enough to interfere with your periperal vision, it can be a covered service through your medical insurance. It is not considered a cosmetic procedure because the excessive lid tissue is causing a functional decrease in your useful visual fields, therefore making it a necessary surgery. Several tests and photos have to be performed and certain criteria must be met before insurances will consider paying for your surgery.
